The Daffodil Festival Grand Floral Parade is an annual celebration of the community, history, traditions, and growth, of its home of Pierce County. It consists of over 180 entries, including floats, bands, marching and always revolves around fresh-cut daffodils, hence the name. The theme for this year’s parade is “Traditions in Bloom.” Come join the fun, music and food, featuring Stack’s Burgers, Fries & Shakes (their burgers are amazing!), Hamhock Jones BBQ/Soul Food, Farrelli’s Pizza Mobile Oven, Hometown Dogs and some local staples like, Trackside Pizza, Stuck Junction Saloon, Sorci’s Italian Cafe (best crab mac n cheese I’ve ever tasted), Berryland Cafe, Buttered Biscuit (see below) and more!

The Buttered Biscuit is one of the best places to grab breakfast in downtown – it’s so popular that there’s often a line waiting to be seated. It’s not hard to see why with their big portions of filling, American comfort food in homey surroundings. No matter what you get off the menu, you must have a piece of their thick, warm cornbread with sweet cream.

Now, Sumner isn’t just all about delicious food, although it’s a pretty nice bonus to live so close to all these incredible, locally owned eateries. There are also a ton of locally owned shops too, all along Main Street. The most popular store in town though that out of towners even flock too is the Old Cannery Furniture Warehouse – a proud family owned and operated store. It’s the go-to place for artisan and leather furniture and unique home furnishing.

If you’ve got a bit of a green thumb, you’ll be excited to know that Windmill Gardens is less than a mile away and the destination for garden inspiration! Their amazing full service plant staff can provide you with plenty of info to spruce up your flowers beds, plant info, fresh cut flower delivery, hanging baskets, custom services and floral arrangements for parties and weddings. They also have some great events coming up – Ciscoe Morris will be there on 4/6 for a green club talk!
